The Mahler Experiment ~ Westminster, London

  • Smith Square Hall London SW1P 3HA United Kingdom (map)

Step inside the orchestra and wander amongst the musicians

A symphony can be theatrical, immersive, electric. This concert brings those possibilities to life.

In a semi-staged performance, step inside the orchestra and wander amongst the musicians, experiencing the score from within its vast, living sound-world.

The musicians themselves are in motion, shifting positions and interacting across the space, allowing the music to continually evolve around you. Immersive lighting responds to the performance, shaping the atmosphere as the work unfolds.

From the hazy glow of the opening to the ferocious outcry of a storm, every moment will be felt and heard with exhilarating immediacy.

This concert is a collaboration between Tony Award-winning theatre and opera director Tom Morris OBE (Breaking the Waves (EIF), Death of Klinghoffer (ENO/The Met), Orfeo (Vienna Statsoper), Othello, Dr Semmelweis, Touching the Void, War Horse (West End)) and conductor Stephanie Childress, bringing her “controlled power and luminous musicianship” (The Hollywood Times) to this unmissable performance.
