Shifting Light traces a musical journey through the changing moods of the year – from the warmth and reflection of autumn to the vitality and radiance of summer.

Vivaldi’s Four Seasons form the framework of the programme, interwoven with works by Frank Bridge, Tchaikovsky, Boccherini, Marais and others, alongside contemporary pieces by Sigur Rós, Yann Tiersen, Fleetwood Mac and Peter Maxwell Davies.

Together, these works explore how mood and atmosphere evolve across the seasons – from reflection to renewal, from stillness to celebration – creating a varied and evocative sound world for guitar and string quintet.
