Immersive live experience, celebrating influential artistic voices

Phaedra Ensemble return to Kings Place with their signature versatility and dynamism to celebrate the launch of their debut album, Realms, released on 18 September 2026 on the acclaimed New York label Cantaloupe Music. Created in collaboration with Meredith Monk herself – who has been involved throughout the entire process – the album reveals the depth of her instrumental writing and showcases one of the most distinctive musical voices of our time.

Spanning works for string quartet, mixed ensemble, and voices alongside instruments, Realms explores Monk’s unique ability to blur the boundaries between vocal and instrumental music. Works to be performed in the concert include Monk’s Stringsongs, Backlight, Realm Variations and Book of Days (Jewish Storyteller/Dance/Dream). 

Performed by an expanded Phaedra Ensemble alongside guest vocal artists, this special launch concert presents the album as a single immersive live experience, celebrating one of contemporary music’s most visionary and influential artistic voices.
