Elliott Carter’s final string quartet (1995), a complex tapestry woven from a dozen miniature movements, and Helmut Lachenmann’s passionate, often wild ‘Grido’ Quartet (2001) sit in company with Eduardo Aguilar’s HYPER, written for and first performed by the JACK Quartet in 2021.
