Experience the splendour of Rubens’ magnificent ceiling at Banqueting House as music fills the space around you.
Presenter Georgia Mann (BBC Radio 3) and sound engineer Rob Winter bring their project Classical DJ to the Banqueting House, creating a rich soundtrack inspired by the drama of the Stuart court and the palace’s extraordinary past.
Hear echoes of James I’s fascination with witchcraft and the divine right of kings, alongside stories from Rubens’ remarkable life as both artist and diplomat. As you listen, be immersed in a powerful fusion of music and history, with each piece bringing new depth to the theatricality, grandeur and intrigue of this extraordinary space.

The DJ set is planned to have a relaxed atmosphere. There are some benches and beanbags in the hall that we encourage visitors to use, but we also encourage you to bring cushions or blankets to make sitting on the floor more comfortable. A limited number of chairs will also be available for those who require them, on a first come, first served basis.
What is Classical DJ?
Classical DJ is the creative partnership of presenter Georgia Mann and sound engineer Rob Winter, offering musical experiences for the classically curious.
Georgia presents BBC Radio 3’s Essential Classics, the station’s most listened-to programme, while Rob’s work as a sound engineer spans everything from the BBC Proms to Paul Weller albums.
Together, they’ve brought Classical DJ to audiences from Idler Festival to Glastonbury, as well as venues including Spiritland in King’s Cross and the Bristol Beacon as part of the BBC Proms.
