Explore rarely heard repertoire by women composers
Following the recent celebrations of their 40th anniversary, Fretwork continue to bear out their unrivalled reputation for innovative programming of music for viol consort. Joined for this concert by mezzo soprano Helen Charlston, they explore rarely heard repertoire by women composers, from Leonora Duarte and Barbara Strozzi in the 17th century to 20th- and 21st-century works by Nadia Boulanger and Dobrinka Tabakova, and Sally Beamish's arrangement of Kate Bush's Running up that Hill. The programme includes premiere performances of works by Samantha Fernando and Ailsa Dixon.
