An intimate evening of music with a programme shaped by collaboration, conversation and creative freedom
As part of Platoon Presents at Kings Place, Pulitzer Prize‑winner Caroline Shaw and multi‑GRAMMY Award‑winning cellist Andrew Yee share an intimate evening of music with a programme shaped by collaboration, conversation and the creative freedom that emerges beyond the rehearsal room.
To launch their new album Or, The Whale, Caroline Shaw and Andrew Yee will perform works that reflect both a musical partnership and a deep friendship, featuring music written by the two of them as well as re-contextualised works by other composers. From Shaw’s iconic Sarabande to Messiaen’s transcendent Louange à l’éternité de Jesu, this is a rare chance to experience two of today’s most original artists in musical conversation.
Long‑time friends and collaborators, the duo share a musical language rooted in curiosity, playfulness and emotional clarity, moving effortlessly between classical writing, traditional music and reimagined sound worlds.
